六步，开启自我倡导之路

了解自我倡导是我们靠自己取得成功的关键，也许，不经意间你已经在进行自我倡导了。当你向老师求助时，当你为自己发声时，当你得到了父母或朋友的支持时，你就是在进行自我倡导。

Learning to self-advocate is critical to fostering independent success. Self-advocacy is something that you already do. when you ask a teacher for assistance, when you speak up for yourself, when you get help from a parent or friend, you are self-advocating.

什么是自我倡导？就是想清楚你要做什么才能成功。为什么自我倡导很重要？因为不同年龄、不同背景的人进行自我倡导后往往更加成功。求学中、职场中，他们的学习能力更强，表现也更出色。

What is self-advocacy? Figuring out what you need to be successful. Why is it important? People of all ages and backgrounds are more successful.when they self-advocate. They learn more, do better at school and over the course of their careers.

要成为自我倡导者，你需要做些什么呢？不复杂，只需五个步骤！

As we discuss what you need to do to be your own advocate You'll find that there are really only five steps.

第一步：理清思路

Step one:Identify and clarify

出现了什么问题？需要做什么来解决这个问题？明确具体地表达自己的需求。当别人清楚你的问题所在，可以更好地为你提供帮助。

What’s the problem? What do you need? Be clear and specific about what you require . It’s easier for someone to provide a solution when they know exactly what the problem is.

第二步：作出选择

Step two:select

谁最适合为你解决问题或者有能力为你解决问题？找对人和发现问题一样重要。要找一个靠谱的人来帮助你，而且这个人要具备相应的知识和经验。

Who is the person best suited or in a position to help you with your problem .Asking the right person is as important as identifying the problem. The right person should be reliable, trustworthy and have the knowledge or expertise you need to assist you.

第三步：建立自信

Step three：confidence.

不要害怕求助，你在为自己寻求帮助，你很重要。别迟疑！别因为所谓的“自尊心”而羞于求助，开口求助很难，但你会从中受益，你要学会去寻求支持，去成为更好的自己。

Don’t be scared to ask. You’re asking for yourself and you are important. Don’t hesitate. On the other hand, don’t use misplaced pride as an excuse not to ask for help, It can be difficult, but it is the best thing, and you will benefit. You will have to practice asking for support and challenge yourself to be the best.

第四步：敢于发声

Step 4：speak up

你了解自己的需要，并且知道该怎么做，大胆求助，让别人听见你的声音。具体地表达出你的需要，礼貌一些，别太苛刻。

You know how and you know what you need. Make your voice heard, ask for help. Be specific about what you need and be polite, not demanding.

步骤五：表达感谢

Step 5：thank you

得到帮助后，说声感谢是一种礼貌，这样，当你下次再来求助，他人也会很乐意帮你。当你从校园步入职场，学会致谢对你来说将变得越来越重要，这是一项很重要的技能。

It’s polite and professional When someone does a favor, say thank you. It's also a pleasant reminder in case you ever need their help again. This step you'll find more critical as you move from high school to college and then onto your career It's a great skill to learn now.

第六步：独立与成功

Step six: success and independence.

你做到了，成功解决了难题。干得好，你可以进入下一阶段的工作了。

You made it. You solved your problem. You can move on to the next stage. Good job.
