Children play a central role in our world, as they form a large and important part of society. They're our hope and a better future. Everyone of them is born full of capability, but they need assistance in order to develop to their complete potential. To make this happen, children have their own specific rights, in addition to their general human rights that acknowledge their special needs. These rights are found in a number of treaties and international agreements, most notably in the 1989 Convention on the rights of the child, or CRC for short.

《儿童权利公约》是联合国成员国共同签署的一项重要协议，对保护儿童权利作出庄严承诺。它列举了40项权利，阐述了儿童的定义、儿童享有的一切权利，以及家庭、社会和政府对儿童的责任。现在，让我们通过《儿童权利公约》的一些条款，来了解一下儿童的权利吧！

The CRC is an important agreement by the members of the United Nations, promising to protect children's rights. It lists over 40 rights explaining who children are, all their rights, and the responsibilities of families, societies and Governments towards them. Now, as a way to get ourselves familiar with the rights of the children, let's take a look at some of the articles of the CRC.

根据《儿童权利公约》的定义，所有未满18岁的人都被称为"儿童"且拥有一切权利。无论身份、地区、使用何种语言、宗教信仰、性别、是否有残障，贫富和家庭出身，每个儿童都平等地享有一切权利。

As it is defined in the Convention, everyone under the age of 18 is considered a child and holds all the rights. These rights apply to all children, regardless of who they are, where they live, what language they speak, what their religion is, if they are a boy or girl, if they have a disability, if they are rich or poor, or who their families are.

在影响儿童的所有决定和行动中，都必须优先考虑儿童的最大利益。

The best interest of the child must be a top priority in all decisions and actions that affect children.

每个儿童都有健康权，因此必须为儿童提供优质的医疗保健、清洁的水、营养丰富的食物和干净的环境。

Every child deserves to be healthy, so they must be provided with good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment.

每个儿童都有接受优质教育的权利。教育必须发展每个儿童的个性、才华和能力。教育必须鼓励儿童尊重人权，以及尊重他们的父母、他们的文化和环境。

Every child has the right to quality education. Education must develop every child's personality, talents, and abilities. It must encourage the child's respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their cultures, and the environment.

每个儿童都有权放松身心、快乐玩耍，并参加与其年龄相应的娱乐休闲活动。不得让儿童从事对其教育、健康或发展不利或有害的工作。

Every child has the right to relax, play, an engage in recreational activities appropriate for their age. They must not be exploited for doing works that are dangerous or bad for their education, health, or development.

应确保所有儿童免受来自其父母或监护人的一切形式的暴力、虐待、疏于照顾和恶劣对待。

It should be ensured that all children are protected from all forms of violence, abuse, neglect, and bad treatment by their parents or their guardians.

最后，需要强调的是，每个残障儿童都应该和其他儿童一样，过上充实、体面的生活。

Last but not least, every child with a disability should also be able to live a full and decent life like other children.

很重要的一点是要记住，《儿童权利公约》中界定的所有权利都是相互关联和不可分割的，这意味着未能保障一项权利，就会影响其他权利的享有。

It is important to bear in mind that all the rights defined in the Convention are interconnected and inseparable, which means the failure to provide for one can affect the enjoyment of the others.

到目前为止，此处所提到的权利只是在《儿童权利公约》中予以定义的少许权利，关于《儿童权利公约》我们需要了解的还有很多。最后需要提一句，儿童的权利意味着，儿童依赖慈善事业或人们的善心才能满足需要的时代已经一去不复返了。

The rights mentioned so far were a few of the ones defined in the CRC, but the list goes one. As a final note, children's rights make certain that children are no longer relying on charity or kindness to meet their needs.

全面落实儿童权利将会确保每个儿童享有优质的生活和个人尊严。

Full implementation on the rights of the child ensure that each child's entitlement to quality, dignity, and respect is maintained.
