【科普】捍卫人权，从了解开始！
1948年12月10日，联合国大会在法国巴黎夏乐宫通过第217A（II）号决议并颁布《世界人权宣言》（UDHR）。
《人权宣言》的颁布作为所有国家和所有人民的共同成就，第一次规定了基本的人权应得到普遍保护，宣布了每个人所固有、不可剥夺的权利，成为所有国际人权法的基础，促使60多项人权文件诞生，具有里程碑意义。
1950年，联合国大会通过了第424（五）号决议，倡议所有国家和感兴趣的机构将每年的12月10日定为人权日。

From the start of our lives, because we are human beings, there are certain things our governments must do to help us reach our potential .
从来到这个世界上的那一刻起，我们就是人类大家庭中的一员，政府就必须要做一些事情，帮助我们发挥自己的潜能。
These expectations and claims we have of our governments are called human rights. Every single man, woman and child has them.Rights call on governments to respect, avoid, putting limits on some things that a person can do, protect, safeguard a person from abuse,fulfill, to provide basic conditions to enable a person to achieve their potential.
人权就是我们对政府的期待和要求，所有人，无论男女老少都有人权。政府应该尊重我们的权利，避免干预我们的权利，需要对一个人可以做的事情加以约束，保护和保障我们不受虐待，创造条件，让每个人都可以实现自己的潜能。
The most basic minimum human rights standards have been discussed and written down by countries. Countries have agreed to follow them. These have become international law.
各个国家经过讨论，以书面方式制定了最根本的最低人权标准。各国已经同意遵循这些标准，这些标准已经上升为国际法。
An example where human rights can be found at home is in the constitution, promoting respect for basic rights is one of the main purposes of the United Nations. This is achieved through activities of United Nations organizations around the world.
举个例子，《宪法》规定要促进和尊重人们的基本权利，这也是联合国的主要宗旨之一。联合国正通过遍布世界各地的各级组织的活动，践行这一宗旨。
The office of the united nations High Commissioner for Human Rights is responsible for leading the human rights programs .There are also committees of experts that monitor how well countries put their human rights promises into practice. And there is an assembly of countries called the Human Rights Council, which discusses different human rights topics and situations from around the world.
联合国人权事务高级专员办事处负责领导联合国人权方案的工作，专家委员会监督各国保障人权的情况。还有一个由联合国大会选举的成员国组成的人权理事会，讨论世界各地的不同人权话题和情况。
