Once upon a time,a young couple fell in love and got married.

They lived in a neighborhood in a small town in Arizona.

The newly married decided that they wanted to have a child

这对新婚夫妇很想要一个孩子。

They had a baby boy and named him James.They loved James very much and thought they should have another.

他们生下了一个男婴，为他取名为詹姆斯，他们很爱这个孩子，不禁想：似乎可以再生一个孩子！

After some years they had another baby and this time it was a baby grill

过了几年，这对夫妻如愿有了第二个孩子，他们的女儿就要出生了！

One day at the hospital. Before Jane was born,doctors told mon and dad that the baby would be born with Down syndrome.

他们的小女儿名字叫珍妮，在珍妮出生前的某一天，这对夫妇被医生告知：珍妮将带着唐氏综合征来到这个世界上。

At first went through feelings of denial and confusion. They asked could this really be happening to us.？

刚开始，他们感到十分迷茫，不敢相信，这个消息是真的——这事怎么就能发生在我们身上呢？

They also had feelings of anger and fear,they 're angry with the doctor as well as themselves.

愤怒和恐惧萦绕心头，他们迁怒于医生，自己内心也百般煎熬。

they told James at first,he was excited to meet his new sister and play with her until she was born.

但是，詹姆斯却很激动，他早就期待着妹妹的出生，这样就能和自己一起玩耍。

Jame did not understand why Jane was different.He didn't understand that she was a special need.

詹姆斯不明白自己的妹妹为何与众不同，也不能理解她的特殊需要。

After Jane was born mom and dad spent lot of their time with Jane.

自从珍妮出生后，爸爸妈妈便花了大量时间去陪伴她。

Every day spent the majority of their time with her.

几乎每时每刻都陪伴在她的左右。

As James beat get older he began noticing that every day mon and dad would focus all their attention on Jane.Jame

詹姆斯一天天在长大，他开始隐隐注意到：爸妈把所有的关注都给了珍妮。

Jame had to wait for the school bus while mom drove Jane to her special daycare.

詹姆斯发现，自己要坐校车去上学，但是妈妈却亲自开车接送妹妹上日托学校。

She got things that James did not.

妹妹得到了詹姆斯无法拥有的东西。

because of that he felt angry.

这让他着实难过。

James felt like he was being left out.

詹姆斯感觉自己被冷落了。

.He felt like he didn't belong in the family because mom and dad were spending so much time with Jane.

爸爸妈妈把很多的时间都花在了妹妹身上，而自己就像是捡来的孩子一样。

He felt like he was isolated.He felt like he was alone.

这种被冷落的感觉让他孤单极了。

One day James wanted something to eat but mom was too busy doing work with Jane so she couldn't get him anything.

有一天，詹姆斯想吃点东西。然而妈妈正忙着照顾珍妮，没法去买。

James went to the cuboard and got a bowl of cereal all on his own.

詹姆斯只好走到餐桌前，自己拿了一碗麦片。

.James has to do some things on his own and his has to grow up faster than other kids.

詹姆斯不得不独立做好很多事，他必须要比其他孩子更早地懂事。

He's more independent than most children.

他也因此比同龄人更加独立。

James also feels a sense of embarrassment.

然而，在某些时候，詹姆斯也感到很尴尬。

He thought that if his friends saw his sister,they wouldn't be his friend anymore

他时常担心，同伴们会怎么看待自己的妹妹，会不会因此不和他交朋友。

It also caused him to guilty about thinking that .James could see that his parents are stressed out.

看着爸妈心力交瘁的样子，他的内心也倍感揪心。

It takes mom and dad a lot longer time to try and find even a babysitter that can take care of them.

爸爸妈妈为了给妹妹找到一位合适的保姆，花了很多精力。

They cannot just hire anyone but someone who is in the special needs.

妹妹需要一些特殊的照料，但并不是所有的保姆都能胜任。

Jame also saw though that because of Jane his parents have become closer.Because of Jane they had to work together and they have become stronger couple.

尽管如此，詹姆斯还是能够感受到，因为珍妮，爸妈的夫妻感情更好了，珍妮的降生，让他们团结起来，一起努力，在这个过程中，爸妈之间的感情更亲密了，

Until finally James's feelings of anger and resentment.Over the years turned to fear and prorectectiveness.

随着时间的流逝，心中的怨恨也逐渐变为了对未来的恐惧和担忧。

As James matures so does his feelings.Because he is getting older,he feeling are changing.

詹姆斯一天天长大，他内心的想法也发生了改变。

He has new fear for his sister.He worries about Jane and her future.

每当想到珍妮的未来，他感到恐惧。

He worries if she will ever be able to go to school in college.He worries if she'll ever get a job

将来，她能上大学吗？能找到工作吗？

.He is also sad for Jane because she can't do everything he can do,but he wants to help mom and dad with Jane

很多自己能做到的事情，珍妮却做不到。这真让人难过。他总想和爸爸妈妈一起照顾珍妮。

Every day he goes through flashcard with her to help her.

他每天都拿着"生词卡"帮助珍妮。

One day Jane correctly said her alphabet and James felt happiness deep inside

有一天，当珍妮正确地念出了字母表，一股强烈的幸福感涌上詹姆斯的心头。

He experiences her joy with her.Because of that Jsmes becomes more of an understanding person.

他感受到了珍妮的快乐，从此变得更加善解人意。

One day his friends at school we're being bullied to a younger chid because of that James felt confused.

有一天，詹姆斯的一位朋友在学校被别的孩子欺负了，这让他思绪万千。

He has a sister with Down syndrome.He has learned to accept people for who they are.

因为唐氏综合征的妹妹，他学会去接受每个人本来的样子。

He learned that everyone is equal no matter what disability someone has.people are different.

他明白，每个人，无论是否残障，都是平等的，也是独一无二的。

Jame has grown to be proud of his sister and when she accomplishes something while there's something big or small he is proud of her.

现在，詹姆斯为自己的妹妹感到骄傲， 为她所取得的，各种大大小小的进步而开心。
